그 안에 담긴 섹슈얼리티(sexuality)

언제부턴가 ‘자신의 성(性)을 스스로 선택할 수 있다’는 어불성설의 논리가 국제적 쟁점이 되고 정책이 되어 문화로까지 확산되고 있습니다. 타고난 생태적 성(性)을 인정하지 않는 문제는 소위 ‘트랜스젠더 성역법’까지 탄생시키며 다음 세대의 성 정체성에 큰 혼란을 주고 있습니다.

이런 시도는 하나님이 만드신 생명의 질서와 법칙을 무너뜨리는 파괴적인 무기로 작용합니다. 더 섬뜩한 일은 유엔기구 중 교육·문화 전담 기구를 자처하는 유네스코가 바로 이런 ‘포괄적 성교육(CSE : Comprehensive Sexuality Education)’을 ‘글로벌 교육 2030’ 의제로 내세워 세계적 추세의 성교육으로 보급하고 있는 현실입니다.

2018년 개정판으로 펴낸 유네스코의 <국제 성교육 가이드>는 이른바 ‘국제 성교육 표준 지침서’라고 불릴 정도로 연령에 따른 세밀한 교육과, 점진적이고 지속적이며 포괄적인 나선형 커리큘럼으로 탄탄하게 짜여 있습니다.

논란이 되는 것은 바로 내용입니다. 유네스코의 성교육 가이드는 포괄적 성교육(CSE)이 커리큘럼의 근간임을 명시하고 있습니다. 이 교육을 접한 부모들은 “5세부터 18세 아이에게 성을 쾌락화한다.”는 지적을 국제사회에 끊임없이 보고하고 있습니다. 친동성애적 입장과 낙태를 권리로 가르치는 교육이 어떻게 성교육의 주류로 정설이 될 수 있는지, 이에 대한 효과나 연구도 비판적인 결과가 잇따르고 있습니다.

‘국제적 수준의 성교육’, ‘세계적 추세’라는 이유로 유네스코의 성교육을 무조건 받아들이며 이 교육에 대해 함구하는 것이 과연 옳은 선택일까요?

이 책은 그 고민의 결과입니다. 생명을 끊어버리는 잘못된 성교육은, 인간 본연의 가치를 송두리째 망가뜨리고 하나님의 형상을 상실하는 비극으로 몰고 갑니다.

Introduction

Global Trends in Sex Education and 

the Inclusion of Sexuality

At some point, the illogical notion that ‘one can choose one’s gender’ became an international issue, transforming into policies and spreading as a cultural norm. The refusal to acknowledge one’s innate biological gender has given rise to so-called ‘transgender rights laws,’ creating significant confusion about gender identity among the next generation.

These attempts act as destructive weapons that undermine the order and laws of life as created by God. Even more disturbing is that UNESCO, the United Nations agency specializing in education and culture, promotes this ‘Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)’ as part of the ‘Global Education 2030’ agenda, spreading it as the global trend in sex education.

The sex education that our children currently receive in public education follows UNESCO’s 2018 revised edition of the “International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education.” This guide is so comprehensive that it is often called the ‘International Standard for Sex Education,’ providing detailed, age-appropriate education through a gradual, continuous, and inclusive spiral curriculum.

The controversy lies in the content. UNESCO’s sex education guide explicitly states that the curriculum’s foundation is Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), which covers the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality. Parents exposed to this education have continually reported to the international community that it ‘sexualizes children from ages 5 to 18.’

Pro-homosexual stance and teaching abortion as ‘human rights’: How can this become the mainstream in sex education? Criticism and research with adverse outcomes continue to follow the teaching of a pro-homosexual stance and abortion as ‘human rights’ as part of sex education. Should we unconditionally accept UNESCO’s sex education simply because it is considered an international standard and global trend and remain silent about this education?

Creative Countermeasures to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE): 

Good Character Sex Education (GCSE)

This book is the result of such contemplation. Teaching that one can ignore biological sex and choose their gender, using sexuality as a human right to discuss feminism, legalizing abortion, and enacting homosexual laws are aspects of misguided sex education that destroy life, undermine the intrinsic value of humanity, and lead to the tragic loss of God’s image.

The most precious value that the next generation should learn through sexuality is to reflect the image of God, who created us. Teaching the beautiful values of sexuality from the unchanging and precious truth of the Bible is the true sex education that parents and teachers must impart.

The author has reviewed and organized ‘Biblical Sexual Values’ to replace the five key aspects of UNESCO’s sex education—gender sensitivity, gender identity education, gender equality, consent education, and sexuality—both educationally and culturally.

Thus, we have included educational content and methodologies to foster ‘Creationist Sensitivity, Self-identity Education, Sexual Responsibility, Obedience Education, and Biblical Sexual Truth.’ These strategies are designed to save and restore life.

In the text or into the book!

The first unit of ‘GCSE’ starts with associating ‘sex’ with God. It involves cultivating ‘Creation Sensitivity’ to discover the good character of God the Father, who created biological sex. It is crucial to teach the next generation clearly about this. Males and females have clear responsibilities and roles according to their ecological characteristics. “Obedience in sex education? Does that make sense?” I can almost hear the bold questions from smart parents. Even setting aside the 21st century, “in today’s world,” obedience in sex education seems like an odd combination, doesn’t it? What I can confidently say is that it is only possible through Goodtree Character School’s obedience education. Obedience is defined by Goodtree Character School as “following the instructions of others with a good attitude.” The core of obedience is knowing who is protecting me. Thus, the truth about gender, or “biblical sexual truth” is defined as “recognizing gender as a biblical concept that engenders life” (Goodtree Character School Definition). Viewing gender as a series of cultural elements and interpreting it through the lens of sexuality introduces the idea of various genders, including a third gender, that can love one another. Q. My child keeps asking how babies are made. How should I answer?

When your child asks, “How are babies made?” it’s an excellent opportunity to introduce sex education naturally. You can explain it like this: “Among all the things God created, human beings are the most precious and valuable. Every person starts as a baby. God planned for babies to be born when a man and a woman come together in love. He placed the seeds to create a baby inside a man and a woman’s body, which becomes active as their bodies grow into adulthood. Q. What should I do if my child witnesses the parents having sex?

Do not scold or avoid the situation. Instead, ask the child, “What did you see?” and “How did it make you feel?” This will help you understand exactly what the child saw. Children might think the father is hurting the mother, that they are fighting, or they might mistake it for wrestling. You can explain, “I see. But actually, mommy and daddy were showing love to each other. The way married couples show love is different from how you play. Q. I caught my son masturbating. How should I react?

When you catch your child masturbating, take a moment to apologize first. Say, “Oh! Sorry, I didn’t know. You need some alone time, too. But you should lock the door if you need privacy!” Handle it naturally and with humor. The issue might become more secretive if parents react with shock and seriousness. If the appropriate ways to respond to hormones are not learned during the growing process, it can become a sensitive issue that could lead to sexual violence. Discuss and understand sexual hormones and how to react to them naturally. Exercise is also an excellent method. Q. How should I deal with a friend who is homosexual?

While conducting a “Good Character Seminar” in California, I received many consultation notes from parents. Surprisingly, many of them were about how to handle the situation when their child’s college roommate is homosexual. 이영숙 박사는 우리나라 최초로 '성품'이라는 단어를 교육에 접목하여 태아, 영유아, 어린이, 청소년, 청년, 부모, 교사, 직장인, 노인에 이르기까지 전 생애를 아우르는 성품교육을 구축한 '12성품교육'의 창시자이다(저작권 제C-2014-008458호, Registration NO.TX 8-721-576).

2005년부터 고안한 좋은성품교육은 교육부로부터 '우수 인성교육 프로그램'으로 인증받았고, 교재는 서울시교육청 인정도서로 승인되어 교육 현장에서 인성교육의 모범으로 인정받고 있다. 특히, 연령별 특성에 맞춘 12성품교육(제10-1059306호, 제10-1059354호)과 루아흐Ruah교육(제10-2034158호, 국제출원 PCT-KR2019-003824, 미국출원 16/393,979)은 특허 받은 교육으로 그 우수성을 입증받았다.

현재 이영숙 박사는 미국 Good Tree Mission | California Grace University 총장이자 GICS(Goodtree International Christian School) 헤드 마스터로 활약하고 있으며 좋은나무성품학교 대표, (사)한국성품협회 이사장, 한국성품학회 회장으로서 전 세계 가정, 학교, 사회를 좋은 성품으로 변화시키는 사명을 이어가고 있다.

Dr. Hee Jong Kim, President of the Korea Character Association and a board member of the Seongnam Youth Foundation and Goyang Industry Promotion Agency, is dedicated to conveying the message that "God's character is the most excellent value" to the next generation. Born as the eldest son of a father who passed the state technical examination and a mother with a Ph.D. in Education, he experienced significant personal challenges during his adolescence, which were shared in "Sebasi" Episode 147. This led to a deeper understanding of "God's character," which he now passionately shares as the principal of Goodtree Christian School.

Dr. Kim studied Communication at Rutgers University, completed his Master's in International Law at Handong International Law School, obtained his Ph.D. in Education from Ajou University, and graduated with a Master of Laws from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2023, he received a commendation from the Mayor of Fullerton, California. He continues his work as a Christian education legal scholar, striving to build new legal and educational frameworks for the next generation.

다음세대에 '성품이 가장 탁월한 가치'임을 가르치는 사단법인 한국성품협회 대표로 섬기고 있다. 기술고시에 합격한 아버지와 교육학 박사인 어머니의 장남으로 태어나, 한때 공부를 못해서 백대를 맞은 이야기가 세바시 147회에 소개될 정도로 사춘기 시절 존재에 대한 고민과 아픔을 겪었다. 이 일을 계기로 어머니 이영숙 박사(좋은나무성품학교 설립자)와 관계를 회복하면서 '성품'을 깊이 있게 만난 그는, 지금껏 경험한 탁월한 변화를 이 땅의 부모와 자녀들에게 흘려 보내기 위해 '다음세대' 사역에 본격적으로 헌신하게 되었다.

미국 러트거스 뉴저지주립대학교에서 커뮤니케이션을 전공했고 한동대학교 국제법률대학원 졸업, 아주대학교 교육학 박사 취득, 미국 캘리포니아대학교 버클리캠퍼스 로스쿨 법학석사를 졸업했다. 현재 California Grace University 총장, Eastside Christian School 인터네셔널 디렉터로 섬기고 있는 김희종 박사는 오늘도 '다음세대를 향한 법제도와 교육적 울타리를 새롭게 세우도록' 교육법학자로서의 행보를 묵묵히 이어가고 있다.
